Brief Description:  Adjust ailerons

Adjusted the aileron linkage.

First I centered the inboard paddles using a stack of sticks that locked the paddles in the centered position. I then adjusted the control stick linkages until the stick was centered.

I then centered the outboard wing paddles with sticks and adjusted the control rods until the ailerons were even with the flaps in the up position.

With the ailerons clamped in-line with the flaps and the stick centered, the wings lowered and locked, I adjusted the paddle screws for zero clearance. I then checked for any slack in the system. I couldn't detect any free play before the stick started to move the ailerons.

The paddle screws needed to be moved out quite a bit to eliminate the paddle gap. There is not enough thread on the inboard side for a second nylon locknut, so there is only one nut on the outboard sides. I tightened the nuts and applied torque seal to indicate any movement of the adjusting screw.

Plugged in the wing tip lights and installed the tips with a couple of screws. Turned on my nav and strobe switches. The lights worked fine. This is the first time I've had a chance to see how the "door jamb" contacts installed on the wing interface would work. Wiggled the wing and the lights remained steady. It looks like the contacts will do the job. I applied a light coat of silicon grease to the brass contact faces to reduce possible corrosion. Downside is the grease might retain dirt/grit making for a poor connection. Time will tell.
